EXAM Q8

The Home page of the observer has many different media language and techniques. Firstly, on the main page, there is a bar to bring together all of the different types of main news into what’s the most important and newest news. In this section they put some famous people’s names in them because they know that these people have large social media followings and are very popular which means their fans that see the celebrities name, will be enticed to click on it.

They make the controversial topics the largest and use varies different bright colours and in most cases out of context language to draw viewers’ attention in and to make it more eye catching. There is a quote on the home page saying "Can I forgive the man that raped me". This draws attention to readers and makes them want to read it. Also the observer has used the home page to create meaning by categorizing the most important news and putting it on the front page. This means the news appeals to the reader more.
